Food, Nutrition and Health

Health & Well Being Educators work with local leaders to create healthier communities by building community skills, tools and resources to promote health. We work to catalyze positive change in Wisconsin families through evidence-based programs focused on nutrition, food security and safety, chronic disease prevention, mental health promotion, prevention of substance abuse and health insurance literacy.

Our FoodWIse Program provides nutrition education to advance healthy eating habits and active lifestyles for families with limited income. FoodWIse is federally funded by the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program-Education (SNAP-Ed) and the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP). The program has a statewide reach.

For some Wisconsin families, hunger and food insecurity are real problems; they just don’t have enough food for an active healthy life. Our involvement in community partnerships helps ensure that families are well-nourished. Nothing beats the freshness of fruits and vegetables from the local farmer’s market.  Take advantage of the season and support your local farmers. Winter will be here before you know it.
